I'm of two minds about this movie. I get why people love it and I get why people hate it without loving or hating it myself. The direction is strong and so is Stewart in the lead. The sense of loneliness, grief, and disconnection was great-- hence the large amount of texting scenes. I will say that by the hour and a quarter mark the movie was wearing thin on me though, and I was more relieved it was over than dramatically satisfied by the ending. As for the movie's classification as a psychological thriller or horror picture, I would disagree. It's a dramatic film with thriller elements, but not a bonafide thriller. It has some suspense and two creepy scenes, but otherwise, the dominant tone is melancholy. Don't expect bumps in the night. If you like slowburn dramas, you might like this one. I can't see myself rewatching it, but I'm glad to have seen it once. But once was enough.
