This is sort of a poor man's Terrence Malick film, with a Quentin Tarrantinoesque monologue tossed in towards the end. The movie is heavy on photography over dialogue and story. There is a story though, sort of a conventional man-woman one about loss and longing that almost veers towards SciFi at the end. If you're a Rooney Mara fan you'll probably want to check this out because she has a lot of screen time. When watching the film I couldn't help thinking that our conventional understanding of the afterlife, the ghost story, is way off the mark (which might be what the director is trying to get the audience to realize).
