An abduction sets this story in motion, and it never really seems to stop, even after closing the last page. I don't know how Roxane Gay managed to evoke living with PTSD so vividly and with a light touch (despite the hardness that exists throughout this story). It is a controlled piece of writing that manages to give life to the repeated narratives we tell ourselves to survive, and the inherent contradictions with which we must endure and learn to live.
