Jacky and Diederic, the main protagonists, haven’t seen each other for decades when they find themselves joined in a criminal enterprise relating to adding growth hormones to cows, etc. to increase their value. In their childhood, they became estranged when Jacky was brutally beaten and injured for life by the town bully. This film was a great mix of crime thriller and personal tragedy of an innocent person damaged for life. Jacky is played by Matthias Schoenaerts, who also starred in Rust and Bone, but I did not recognize him because in Bullhead he plays a man shooting himself with steroids (puffed out body and face). I suspect that director Roskam and Schoenaerts are destined for fame, as they have made another film together, which will getter broader viewing as it is in English. I subtracted a half star, as there was a late five or ten minute comedic feel reminiscent of Laurel and Hardy which I feel inappropriately broke up the unbelievable intensity of the film.
