I liked this CD series called Ascend. Switched is Part I. Ascend is Part II or Part III. Ascend is the end of the story with the final outcome. It is from the point of view of a teenager. She is actually a troll (not human) that looks human. She has magical abilities she does not understand. There is many troll tribes that compete with each other. The main character from from Trylle Society. Trylle raise the human children and put the troll babies with the human parents. Trylle calls these babies a changling. Violence can happen when the tribes compete. Some tribes steal the changlings from the human parents and make them slaves in their tribe. This story is about the character learning who she really is. She is learning she has responsibilities and obligations to carry out in her Trylle world. She has to endure war and tyranny. She struggles with love too. In this finale to the Trylle trilogy, heroine Wendy is now the acting regent of the troubled Trylle kingdom of Foerning. Desperate to keep her people safe from more devastating attacks, Wendy strikes a risky deal with her father, Oren, king of the Vittra. Her supportive but loveless marriage to Tove is on shaky ground under the strain of the kingdom's fate, and further complicated by Loki's presence at the palace. With Loki persistently working his way into her heart, Finn's passion for her still smoldering, and Tove's wedding ring on her finger, Wendy is faced with difficult personal choices while she struggles to gain the confidence and compliance of her people. This concluding chapter is the strongest entry yet, rewarding readers with the resolution to the romantic, political, and interpersonal entanglements set up in the previous two volumes. Wendy has grown from a confused and defiant teen to a young woman of strength and character who carefully balances the burdens of love, loyalty, and leadership.
