The death-defying act and Depression-era setting of this Disney film make for an interesting story, if you can overlook the inhumanity of horses diving from a 40-foot tower into a tank of water; there are reasons shows like this don't exist today. It's also a rare opportunity to see Michael Schoeffling, who played dreamboat (I think this is the first time I've ever used that word) Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles. Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken was his last film before he retired from acting at age 31. Sonora Webster Carver, on whose life the movie was loosely based, wrote the book A Girl and Five Brave Horses about her experiences as a diving girl. I recommend this G-rated movie for all ages, though I think adults may like it more than children will.
