A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there's not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick. Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases--a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old. It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice--with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan--from foreplay to more-than-missionary position... Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he's making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic.

This book should really be titled "The Sex Quotient" because in the first chapter alone there are numerous references to sex. Since I couldn't get past the first chapter I don't know nor do I care what happens to these sex crazy characters but this book, which had been on my TBR list forever, was a huge disappointment.

Stella, the protagonist thinks: “Also, this was Silicon Valley, the kingdom of tech geniuses and scientists. The single men available were probably as hopeless in bed as she was.” And on French kissing: “It makes me feel like a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish.” If that sounds like your kind of read, this is your kind of book. A fun, fast and very funny romance.

This book is hot and sexy. I love the interaction between the two main characters. I really like the rest of Michael’s family members too. I guess it reminds me of a typical Vietnamese household.

I chose Helen Hoang’s Kiss Quotient for the “book by or about someone that identifies as neurodiverse” category of the 2019 Read Harder Challenge. It’s a bit of cross between Pretty Woman and Pygmalion. I have to admit that it was way more romancy than I was expecting. If that’s your jam, you can read both Kiss Quotient and book two out now called The Bride Test.

Fifty Shades of Wow…this book was everything I hyped it up in my head to be and more. I love a good romance, and I have read many, but it is rare to come across a book that really makes my heart pitter patter. Not only that, but it has a very diverse set of lovers. The heroine, Stella, has Asperger’s Syndrome (a high functioning form of autism) and the hero, Michael, is biracial (Vietnamese/Caucasian).

I was never a particularly big fan of the Julia Roberts/Richard Gere film Pretty Woman, but this gender bent retelling was both believable and heartwarming. It’s a slow build romance, and even though the outcome seems inevitable, it is still tremendously gratifying to see it come to fruition.

What I particularly enjoy about the book is how the author develops the character of Stella. The author is herself autistic, and the authenticity of her experiences really shines through Stella’s inner dialogue. Stella is both quirky and lovable, and at times the pain and frustration she feels is so raw, you feel it to your very core. You can’t help but root for her and her budding romance with the sensitive, yet studly male escort with a heart of gold.

As a side note, I grew up near the city where the story takes place, so it was very interesting as a reader to experience familiar places in a new and fun way.

Liked this book - quick and easy, summer read. Fairly predictable and as others have said, pretty steamy.

Very readable, but essentially, soft porn.

Review excerpt: "I truly loved this book. Loved. It made me feel like a champagne bubble – all fizzy and light. Each page brought about a bigger smile and my anticipation grew with each word. When I think of all the magical feelings romance gives its readers, I will forever think of this book. I’m not saying 'The Kiss Quotient' is flawless, but my experience with it was absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I want to read it again and I will forever be jealous of those reading it for the first time."
