What would you do if you lost everything—your job, your home, and the love of your life—all at the same time? When it happens to Seattle ad executive Alan Christoffersen, he's tempted by his darkest thoughts. A bottle of pills in his hand and nothing left to live for, he plans to end his misery. Instead, he decides to take a walk. But not any ordinary walk. Taking with him only the barest of essentials, Al leaves behind all that he's known and heads for the farthest point on his map: Key West, Florida. The people he encounters along the way, and the lessons they share with him, will save his life.

One word: Amazing!.
I came across this series by accident like I do a lot of the books I end up reading. I just finished the series and postponed the final book, Walking on Water for 3 days. I did not want it to end. Cried my heart out, because it hit home so much . I lost the love of my life 5 years ago and it was like going through the pain all over again. I have read a couple Evans books but this series converted me to a die hard fan.
I lived in Florida for many years and walked beside the author through so many familiar places that my husband and I had travelled together. That was bitter sweet. Many times I had to put my reading down for awhile and do something else, because I was so broken up by my memories. Key West was the toughest. He touched my heart truly and The Walk is a big reminder that the only time we have is now, and we should live life to it's fullest , without regrets and not putting of something you want to do for the future , because tomorrow may never come. Thank you Richard Paul Evans for the privilege of walking with you through this series. Though sad, I relived many happy memories of a wonderful love that was all mine.

This may be a good book & perhaps I shall try reading it later, but I found the audiobook to be unlistenable for driving in the car. The reader (author in this case) went from loud enough to nearly unintelligible with most sentences. I had to keep straining my ears to understand what was being said. I was saddened.

Read or listen to these in order...
The Walk, Miles to Go, Road to Grace. Details of the midwest maded me remember places that I also had visited.
