Rich in narrative history and local color, this book is an homage to the town of Sherryl Woods's summers, a place that stole her heart long ago and provided the basis for the many fictional small towns in her bestselling novels.

I really loved reading the stories of the people of Colonial Beach, Virginia. I live in Virginia and have never been to Colonial Beach so this book enticed me to want to visit. I loved reading Ms. Woods' story about growing up going during the summer and how people accept you after many visits. The book reminded me of growing up and spending the summer with the my grandparents. I worked in their dry cleaning business and got to know the customers. After a few summers, they remembered me and welcomed me each summer. Getting to know the people of Colonial Beach and the town itself was fun. I loved Ms. Woods' intro were she talked about riding a bike off the porch because it reminded me of when my sisters and I did the same thing along with sitting on the front porch every evening. Thank you for bringing back so many of my summer memories by telling yours Ms. Woods. Now to write those stories down for my children to read.
