Like The Hidden Life of Trees, Peter Wohlleben's The Inner Life of Animals will rock your world. Surprising, humbling, and filled with delight, this book shows us that animals think, feel and know in much the same way as we do—and that their lives are, to them, as precious as ours are to us. Through vivid stories of devoted pigs, two-timing magpies, and scheming roosters, The Inner Life of Animals weaves the latest scientific research into how animals interact with the world with Peter Wohlleben's personal experiences in forests and fields. Horses feel shame, deer grieve, and goats discipline their kids. Ravens call their friends by name, rats regret bad choices, and butterflies choose the very best places for their children to grow up. Animals are different from us in ways that amaze us -- and they are also much closer to us than we ever would have thought.

An interesting book about the emotional behaviour of all kinds of animals, domestic and wild, from flies to deer, through the observation and scientific knowledge of the author. A very good read that makes you aware of the feelings of animals. Thought provoking about the ethics of farming and food consumption.

Not as amazingly amazing as his The Hidden Life of Trees, but once again Wohlleben uses his no nonsense logic and sweetly humorous real life examples to demonstrate what we all know or should know anyway. Highly recommended.

A compassionate work that sheds a lot of light on the similarities amongst all beings. It will help me look at all beings from a different perspective. I will now be more mindful of all my actions that may affect other beings. No longer us versus them.
