I think he pretty much nails it. Where we differ is the tradcon philosophy that permeates the book. He thinks men should be lining up to become grist in the mill for women and the state despite knowing how bloated and detrimental the state has become. He also thinks humans lack the moral compass to do anything good unless the christian god sets down the rules for them. He gets so close but doesn't realize that gynocentrism is the biggest problem facing the developed world. When you empower women they stop having kids and when you give them the franchise you're signing your own death warrant. The reason for the bloated welfare state is because politicians pander to women's leftist tendencies. Still I think he's mostly on point.

Only slightly more subdued than his previous book "America Alone", this book is still thought provoking and as usual Mark Steyn takes prevailing wisdom head on. In the past America has helped other countries get back on their feet; but who is left to help America, now that she has such a big debt. China? Russia? Oil rich Saudi Arabia? He is opposed to big government and the idea that only government can solve all the problems in America, but concedes that it is harder to show initiative in business than in previous times. That too is often the result of government rules and regulations.
He's a good read, and will surely make you think.

Read this book.
Very up-to-date.
50 pages of documented sources to back up his viewpoint.
Someone who probably would not be invited for an interview on the CBC.

An eye opener, I couldn't put it down.

The author has a very negative view of Obama, and Amercia's future as a whole. He does go a but far in some cases, but does make very compelling arguments towards the current economic and political issues. A very good read. At times i was shocked, a little saddened, and even laughed a couple of times

"Civilization is not an evolution of mankind but the imposition of human good on human evil. It is not an historical inevitability. It is a battle that has to be fought every day, because evil doesn't recede willingly before the wheels of progress."
Andrew McCarthy quoted by Mark Steyn.

"Instead of the can-do-spirit we now have the can-do-with-some-government-funding spirit. And it is hard to get an inspirational heart-warmer out of that."
Mark Steyn
