This is the second book of Sophie Kinsella I decided to try because with the first book; I was not happy. I decided to give another one of Sophie Kinsella’s books a read and sadly, I still am not happy. I found this book very silly so at the beginning I gave it two stars, but because it had a little humour, I decided to add the point five. The humour did not last throughout the whole book because the plot started to get weird and confusing. The beginning was a bit fast and also unrealistic; I do not think there is a person in this world who would tell a stranger their lifetime secrets on a plane because they think they are going to die?! Then that is when the main character, Emma faces a problem; the stranger was the CEO of the company she works for, great! The problems that I had with the book were the beginning, the problem, and the climax. I do not think Sophie Kinsella’s books are suitable for me! Personally, I would not recommend it, but it is OK for a weekend read @LibbyTeen of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

What a cute little read. Loved it. Laughed out loud on many occasions! Can't wait for the movie...yes it's a predictable rom-com but everybody needs a little escape that brings a smile! Go for it.

As one expects from Sophie Kinsella, this is a nice, easy, read. Can You Keep a Secret? is full of British humor, whacky characters, and overall silliness. Emma blabs her innermost secrets to a complete stranger who ends up being the CEO of the company that she works at. The plot is predictable but fun, and I spent the majority of the book waiting to see the almost irritatingly passive Emma stand up for herself. I was turned off by the unusually high amount of people in Emma's life that were just plain awful, and the fact that she continued to allow them to walk all over her bothered me. I found some of the things she was being persecuted for to be incredibly trivial and definitely not the kinds of things that should destroy a person's life. Maybe this is an example of the book showing it's age a bit (as it was first published in March of 2003). Overall, it was a light read that did make me laugh, even if it was usually at Emma's expense.

This was a fun read. I felt like the protagonist was very real and relatable.

4+ Stars

After hearing that the movie based on this book is in pre-production, I wanted to get it read soon. This was definitely an enjoyable read with some true lol moments. As per typical Brit lit, the story doesn't just focus on the impending romance, but also on multiple varying secondary characters and dynamics that surround the protagonist. In this case, it's Emma and her friends, family, and co-workers. Not to mention, a high profile hero to her heroine. There may haven been a few romantic fiction clichés and some points where the story dragged a bit, but overall I had fun and was pleased with the cinematic ending.

In addition to reading the ebook, I also listened to a large portion on audio and was entertained by the exceptional narration.

There's just something so natural and so human about the insecurities and then the delusions of Emma. and though this might be a comic story first, this was a very cheeky romantic romp for me.
