At the start of the 19th century, John James Audubon embarked upon an epic ornithological quest across America with nothing but his artist's materials, an assistant and a gun. Driving him on through terrible storms, encounters with ferocious bears and dangerous people, Audubon's all-consuming passion for birds came to define his entire life - but what would the world make of his expressive and distinctly unscientific illustrations upon return?

It's a definitely romanticised retelling of the life of Audubon - I'm still struck by his abandonment of his family for his art, especially in those times, as life was mean and short. He did make some of the greatest bird at the world has seen, but oy, what a way to do it.

Gorgeous, whimsical & bit romanticized graphic novel on a 19th century French artist who documented 435 avian subjects in a young America as citizens razed forest, pushed nomadic Native Americans away & built a great nation using African slaves.
Welcome change from superheroes.
Passenger Pigeon say billion plus flock's destruction on fields explained why they were hunted down to extinction.
