I just finished "Gauntlygrym", book 1 in this series, and I understand -yet do not entirely feel- people's dissapointment with his series. However, we have to keep in mind that R.A. Salvatore is making these changes to explore the internal conflicts of Drizzt Do' Urden. Longtime fans have to keep in mind that he is doing his best to explore new areas of writing, while at the same time taking good care of the trust that we have placed into his hands.
The change in the tone of the series isn't my favourite and aside for the re-introduction of Artemis I'm unsure how I feel about this book.
I have enjoyed reading the book.
Umm...if you didn't know about you-know-who before, the cover makes it pretty obvious. Drizzt is getting pretty dull. I don't think it is a much Salvatore's fault as it is Dungeons and Dragons for changing stuff. The hundred year (give or take) advancement was an interesting idea though.
