I did enjoy this instalment of the DC world of characters, which went heavily into the world of magic and the netherworld.
Batman was as brooding and distrusting as ever, as he doubted magic in general. Superman even mentions Shazam, in passing as using some elements of magic.
Shazam (Captain Marvel) does not appear, but his revival is in the works of the DC world. A mortal boy that becomes as strong and fast as Superman, by saying the word SHAZAM.
I did not know of the connections of all of these characters that were brought together for this film. First time I had seen Zatanna, Deadman, Etrigan the Demon, John Constantine and Sebastion Faust, with minor appearance of Superman and Wonder Women.
Swamp Thing appeared, but still do not know of the background with John Constantine, as the film suggested, but he is brought in to help battle Destiny.

Definitely not the sunny-DCverse we're used to. Good story, fairly good animation and excellent voice acting.

A magic spell causes hallucinations in Gotham. Batman calls upon Constantine, Jason Blood, and Zatarra. After a visit to the invisible magical house Constantine resides in, they go on a quest to stop the wizard behind the chaos. I appreciated the back story on Jason Blood. I always enjoy seeing Zatarra, and wish she was in more DC movies. Batman manages to hold his own despite no magical powers of his own. Beautiful cartoon, vivid colors, not so dark, enjoyed the story. Not for young children.

Not bad for an animation movie.

When a magic based threat comes into play, Batman assembles a group of magic-infused heroes (and anti-heroes) in this animated take on the title. Animated as it may be, it's a bit more mature than kids would be used to. The story moves along well.

Well done. Even for an animated movie, the concept behind the JLD team is difficult to convey outside the comic books. This movie did a surprising job of it. As a fan of the Matt Ryan's ill-fated Constantine network TV show, it was nice to see him playing the same character in this feature. My only complaint is that they shoe-horned Batman into the story. I understand why it was done, he's the most popular DC character right now, and new audiences may not be familiar with any other characters. That said, fans of the comic JLD roster won't need a familiar face to keep them engrossed, and newcomers wouldn't be giving this a chance simply because it has "Justice League" in the title.
