If I Had A Gryphon
Book - 2016
Sam just got a hamster for a pet. But the hamster is kind of boring ... he just eats and sleeps and gets his shavings wet. Inspired by her book of mythological creatures, Sam longs for a more exciting pet. But she soon realizes that taking care of these magical beasts might not be as wonderful as she thought. Sasquatches are messy, unicorns are shy, gryphons scare the dogs at the dogpark, and having a fire extinguisher handy at all times makes dragons seem like an awful lot of work. In the end, Sam realizes that her hamster is a pretty sweet and safe pet ... or is he?

Last week I got a hamster. My first and only pet. He mostly eats and sleeps and hides and gets his shavings wet. If only I could have a pet with strange, exotic powers, I know that I'd find lots to do to while away the hours.

A fun picture book about what it would be like to have different mythological creatures as pets. Charming rhymes and fun illustrations add to its appeal.
A humorous read-aloud about imagination, making choices, and eventually being satisfied with what you have. Perfect for kids who are obsessed with mythological creatures. Great illustrations and rhyme make for a terrific storytime book!
