This is an older tile of Lindsey's which does have some real flaws in logic. The plot isn't very tangible, especially in the year it takes place. Once again, it is a plot that Lindsey uses quite a bit in putting women in a very demeaning position and the women never fail to fall in love with the man who kidnapped her. Stockholm Syndrome?

I love Johanna Lindsey!! I hated Captive Bride!! I thought the dialogue was silly and contrived, the plot was very simplistic and the few romance scenes were not so much scenes as a couple of lines, sometimes less. Thank goodness her writing has grown and improved since this book was published in 1977, otherwise, today she would be an unknown writing failure who probably would have ended up being forced into an office job because writing wasn't paying the bills, and never would.
