i was disappointed after the great beginning that was lee remick driving into San Francisco, across the Bay Bridge. She is quickly into the Twin Peaks neighborhood, living on a dead end street. Just as quickly, she is in the clutches of a dangerous criminal, played by Ross Martin of THE WILD WILD WEST fame. The verisimilitude is lacking in the detail of her kid sister's high school, way, way across town: George Washington, on Geary, at about 38th avenue. Also, why would her first call for help be to the FBI? What does she have against the local police? Does she somehow know that she needs to talk to the character played by Glenn Ford? Then, a second female character calls him, telling him she knows something about the case. He takes his time showing up to her place on Larkin Street. Meanwhile, the killer kills her, and leaves her hanging for Ford and his partner to discover, when they do show up there. It seems so formulaic, almost like a spoof of the genre. That it is a Blake Edwards production lends credence to that surmise, only he needed to be more obvious, more overt, than made it to the final cut. As for Ford's acting: talk about deadpan. Stefanie Powers costars as the kid sister, cute as a button, as they say.

I loved it. Great psycho-killer

Blake Edwards directed Experiment in Terror as an OK crime thriller, but it was no way close to his previous film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Mancini does the music as he did in Breakfast, and Glenn Ford and Lee Remick star as FBI agent and victim of threats from a killer. Nothing great here. I would think that a film with these top artists would have resulted in a better film.

Although the plot was a little thin, it was the fabulous movie making techniques including filming San Francisco streets/geography, interior set design, etc. that really sets this film apart.

The money they saved still being in b/w in 1962 was well spent on the above.
