The Anunnaki Chronicles by the late Zecharia Sitchin (1920-2010), and edited by his niece Janet Sitchin, is a summary of his many books looking into an alternative history of human civilisation based on deciphered texts from recovered buried clay tablets and obelisks from the civilisations that suddenly emerged in the Middle East after the last Ice Age. He compares the Sumerian, Babylonian, Egyptian, Grecian, Roman, Indian, and Central American civilisations, and postulates that human development was aided by God-like people from the Twelfth Planet Nibiru which in comet-like manner, returns to near-earth proximity every 3,600 years. He compares the Biblical texts to the clay-tablet texts and suggests that the Old Testament texts were based on much older documents found on clay tablets from pre-Sumerian times. The current speculation about ‘Planet X’ in the popular press provides added interest to Sitchin’s theories, and one wonders about their pertinence to our origins, and future.
