I read this book during a time when I was at a crossroads in my life. This book helped me put things into perspective: Life is not just about right now; we must think big. We must love and trust God to use us to make an impact in the world. Finding our passion and letting it shine for everyone to... Read More »

It' s a great inspirational book. One does not have to buy into religion in order to derive inspiration and " purpose".
There are very recent comments ( see and read for yourself below) that impune the author by aluding to political, possibly Conservative view points, lately of which, those who slander and polarize use such tactics( ergo, "...your a Christian, therefore we deem you a racist, sexist, misoginist, homophobe....") and other slanders to those who have faith. The great thing about the book is it condenses Jesus teachings to useful and pragmatic daily application: no religion or church neccessary.
Free Will is a great thing. Tyrants of the Culture will slander authors and have you( without reading) view the author through a dark glass, their purpose to defame abd divide us.
This book will inspire, and leave your Free Will intact!

Very well written book. Key quotes from the book:
- You were put on earth to be remembered. You were put here to prepare for eternity.
- This world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever. 1 John 2:17
- Character is both developed and revealed by tests and all of life is a test.
- Anything you do that brings pleasure to God is an act of worship.
- This is the secret to a lifestyle of worship - doing everything as if you were doing it for Jesus.
- What God wants most from you is a relationship.
- Trusting God completely means having faith that he knows what is best for your life.
- God does not owe you an explanation or reason for everything he asks you to do.
- There are 3 barriers that block our total surrender to God: fear, pride and confusion.
- Surrender is not the best way to live, it is the only way to live. Nothing else works.
- Friendship with God is built by sharing all your life experiences with Him.
- He wants to be included in every activity, every conversation, every problem and even every thought.
- Praying without ceasing.
- You can't love God unless you know Him, and you can't know Him without knowing His word.
-Prayer lets you speak to God; meditation lets God speak to you.
- What you think about God's word over and over in your mind, that's meditation.
- Until we are mature enough to understand that God uses everything for good in our lives, we harbor resentment towards God over our appearance, background, unanswered prayers and past hurts.
- Bitterness is the greatest barrier to friendship with God.
- Your problems are not punishment; they are wake-up calls from a loving God.
- Tell God exactly how you feel. Pour out your heart to God. Unload every emotion that you are feeling.
- Did you know that admitting your hopelessness to God can be a statement of faith?
- For God has said: "I will never leave you, I will never abandon you" Heb 13:5
- The essence of love is not what we think or do or provide for others but how much we give of ourselves.
- The greatest gift you can give someone is your time.
- We need more than the bible in order to grow, we need other believers.
- If someone hurts your repeatedly, you are commanded by God to forgive them instantly but you are not expected to trust them immediately and you are not expected to continue allowing them to hurt you.
- Real fellowship whether in a marriage, a friendship, or your church depends on frankness.
- Frankness is not a license to say anything you want, wherever and whenever you want.
- Always take the initiative. It does not matter whether you are the offender or the offended: God expects you to make the first move.
- People who gossip to you will also gossip about you. They cannot be trusted.
- Word provides the truth we need to grow, God's people provide the support we need to grow, and circumstances provide the environment we need to practice Christ likeness.
- Anytime you feel your are not learning anything from a sermon or bible teacher, you should check your attitude, especially pride because God can speak through even the most boring teacher when your are humble and receptive.
- It is during suffering that we learn to pray our most authentic, heartfelt, honest-to- God prayers.
- Problems force us to look to God and depend on him instead of ourselves.
- God knows what is best for you and has your best interest at heart. God told Jeremiah, 'The plans for you are plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'
- There is no growth without change, no change without fear or loss and no loss without pain.
- If I have no love for others, no desire to serve others, I should question whether Christ is really in my life.
- When you are doing what you love to do, no one has to motivate you.
- For God to use your painful experiences, you must be willing to share them.

I read a comment, said Inspiring, yet may not be for everyone. So Sad. Cause God is for everyone. John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only begotten Son to whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. This book helps us to understand that God made us to have a relationship with Him and the building blocks and tools to form one. God loves you and I.
