Thanks to the hard work of those over at Massacre Video (an independent distribution company specializing in the re-releasing of obscure, nearly impossible to attain horror films), Donald Farmer's directorial debut can now be seen by any and everyone!
DEMON QUEEN is a shot on video horror film from 1986 and one of the first to get placed on video store shelves back in the golden age of home video. Prior to the DVD release, there was a very sought after and very rare VHS edition, released by Mogul Video. It still fetches over $700 average online. DEMON QUEEN is "about" a ravenous, well...demon queen. And that's kind of all. The film itself is not that great and I'm sure most people will hate it. Then again most people erroneously judge movies based on budget and title stars. This is a no budget film that's really short (only about 45 minutes) and the editing is rather sloppy, which makes the experience drag on a bit. The look of the film is very cool, though, and the gore effects are rather impressive (they were done by a protegee of Tom Savini). Donald Farmer went on to make a lot more movies, two that are a lot better are CANNIBAL HOOKERS and SAVAGE VENGEANCE. Regardless, this is a pretty historically significant movie insofar as horror films go.
