Tina Chen doesn't usually speak up in class, but she can't help but challenge her classmate, billionaire tech genius Blake Reynolds, when he speaks without considering her privilege. Blake is surprised, but surprises Tina with an offer to trade situations: she would live in his house, get his regular income, deal with his responsibilities, while he would do the same. Each discovers things about the other and their families, and they can't help but really like each other despite Tina's prickly frustration. But from there, all kinds of things can happen, both with their relationship with each other and the world at large.
This book is just fabulous. It talks about class issues, cultural understanding, relationship issues, mental health, and all kinds of things while still being hilarious and a darling love story.
