I read Evermore as part of me downsizing my books. I bought first five books in the series very inexpensive(less than a couple of dollars) a couple of years ago. My downsizing plan is pretty simple; I'm starting with my YA series by reading the first book and deciding if it's worth continuing. Leading on to my adult series and then standalone of all types. I think this was a weird book to start with for many reasons.

First, I never read Twilight, but I'm assuming that it's very similar to this. It was a bit bland but in a way relaxing. The vernacular was beyond simple. If I had to explain the book, I would compare it to literary junk food. I love chips, but I'm not going to eat them if I'm truly hungry. I put it down a few times from pure boredom.

Second, it was a cookie cutter books. While at first, I thought, 'Hey! At least it doesn't have a love triangle!' But my husband was quick to point it out after I explained the book to him. He read twilight and asked me if it was just another version of it but without werewolves. It is.

Third, I enjoyed it. I'm not even sure why but I think that is the case with many of my favorite junk foods. Are hot Cheetos good? Yes? Would I pick them over a steak? Depends on my mood.

I'm putting this on my 'reconsider' shelf as I read the second in the series. I am starting to believe that downsizing will be harder than I thought. *sigh

This book was great, kept me hooked. I'd started reading the first chapter and before I knew it I was past the first 100 pages, and it hadn't even been a day! cx I hope Noël maintains her standards in her next few books.

This book was a great book! I could NOT put the book down, and when I did I wanted to pick it right back up and continue reading! It was a tear jerker....actually..I was sobbing. This book was worth all of my time and I just want to read more!

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good teen fiction, supernatural, romance!

I loved this book! Usually I don't go for the cheesy, lovey dove ending but the ending was beautiful and it make you want to go aww!! and start crying tears of joy!

Really awesome book! I wasnt able to put it down, I took it with me where ever I went.
I re read this 7 times and never got bored with it. I kept on thinking "I NEED to get the next book" before I was even done the one I was reading.
This book will keep you up wayyyy past your bedtime!!

This is Twilight. Without the vampires. I was entertained while I was reading it, but I will not be reading the rest of the series. This story has been told, oh, only about a billion times now! For what it's worth, the author made an attempt at originality by creating something LIKE vampires but not. I think I was most disappointed by this book because I had enjoyed Faking 19 and it seems like Alyson Noel has now strayed into very standard supernatural romance. If you liked this book you will like Twilight (assuming for some reason you haven't read it) and The Mortal Instruments series. I loved the romance in this book, but felt like the plot could have been a little bit better thought out, the end seemed a little bit flimsy / unexpected.

the book made want to keep reading and not stop it was so entertaining and romantic and just one of the very best books i ever read. i love how she finally admits that she loves him in the last 3 sentences in the book and he says that he always had and always will love her. in my opinion it was truly inspirational because it pretty much goes with one of my favorite quotes "just because somebody dies doesn't mean there love and relationship dies" because the love just goes so deep it seems like there "one soul in two bodies" (another one of my favorite quotes)

After her family dies in a car crash, Ever can see auras and hear people's life story with a single touch. Turning almost hermit-like, Ever transforms from a popular, preppy goddess to a alienated, social pariah. She hides herself in hoodies and blasts music in hopes that she can tune out everything around her and be a normal teenager once again. When she meets Damen, the new kid at school, however, the auras are muted and she can finally exist in white noise. But being with Damen is not as easy as she thought and a whole new world Ever never thought possible opens up.

Jul 13, 2009

Since the car accident that claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras and hear people's thoughts, and she goes out of her way to hide from other people until she meets Damen, another psychic teenager who is hiding even more mysteries.
