With 35 years in the publishing world, and numerous published books and articles, Nina Amir is the perfect person to write this manual.
This manual promises to help the author “develop marketable ideas, craft books that sell, become the author publishers want and how the self-publish effectively.” Nina Amir accomplishes each of these points with flair and honesty. The first chapter begins with the author’s attitude, which is a perfect lead in for the rest of the book. In this most important chapter, Nina Amir encourages the author to take a realistic approach to evaluating themselves. While most training manuals focus on the technical aspects to writing and publishing only, this book starts off with the emphasis on the writer’s outlook. A much needed discussion follows with a look at “Why Someone Would Want to Read (Buy) It.” While writers are frequently excited to carve out a marvelous story, they need to be reminded of the salability of the end product. Nina Amir does this succinctly and fairly. Another indispensable topic is “Weigh Whether You Are the Best Person to Write This Book… Now” where Nina Amir candidly debates whether the author is qualified to write his/her particular book. The information presented in The Author Training Manual is valuable for beginning writers to experts in any chosen field of knowledge. Nina Amir notes the most important business reasons why and why not a book should be written. And shows how that book should be written.
Included are priceless samples and training exercises in the back of the book that Nina Amir points to during each step and chapter discussion. She not only shows how to generate important pages (e.g.: Table of Contents, Index, Pitches, Elevator Speeches, etc.) but she also relays the importance of each.
All levels of writers will keep The Author Training Manual on their reference bookshelf for years to come.
