This production was America's answer to the Danish tv serial "The Kingdom" which was crafted by Lars von Trier, a VERY controversial international director.

Stephen King rewrote and reinterpreted much of the script, and the show did retain some of the integrity and brilliant bizarreness as the original, but it got lost along the way. Which is sad because it started off with such a bang.

For a real treat watch the original!

with only the first disc down i must say, what an odd place, the hospital, without the ghosts. it's like this place is out of sync with the rest of society as if they haven't fully grown or matured, yet it's not everyone all the time.

finished it: good story, acting, and entertaining. drama-sci-fi.

Dr. Hook (Andrew McCarthy), artist Peter Rickman (Jack Coleman) and psychic Sally Druse (Diane Ladd) must stave off certain doom when a horrific anteaterlike beast and the ghost of a 10-year-old girl terrorize a Maine hospital built on the site of a tragic 19th-century mill fire. Horror master Stephen King adapted his bizarre, spooky and darkly humorous story from Danish director Lars von Trier's cult miniseries "The Kingdom."
