It's good to read stories of hope however slight the odds. This book doesn't give you statistics, but statistics don't really help with hope anyway. A mental lift while struggling with a cancer diagnosis will help a patient engage with their own health work, rather than passively sitting back waiting for an oncologist to do what little they can.

In-depth analysis of top nine alternative healing therapies for cancer recovery, or for cancer avoidance. Written by a doctor, but this book is not supportive of the income-producing Western Medicine approach to fighting cancer. Great information here, with back up studies and data. But still, not for everyone. My friend in chemo will not read it.

Title is misleading. Turner is looking for shared traits among statistical anomalies, then purporting that following these behaviors would lead you to healing. It's a clear case of survivorship bias. I wish she had stayed away from the nutritional recommendations (many which I've found to be false based on Cochrane.org and reputable medical institutions) and just stuck with her suggestions of alternative therapies.

That said, she does present "inspiring" stories of survivors which some may find uplifting.

An inspirational book with stories of beating the odds. In Seattle we have a tremendous amount of complementary treatments available which align to to any of the practices in the book. The author suggests using conventional therapy and then tapping into these other approaches as well.

I bought a copy so I can refer to it when worries about my cancer coming back get too strong. It is good to have this alternate perspective on disease.
