In this novel, a recently separated woman faces her highway driving phobia and takes a road trip with her best friend to their high school class reunion.Years ago, Melanie followed her husband, Kurt, from the New England beach town where their two young sons were thriving to the suburbs of Atlanta. She's carved out a life as a successful metal sculptor, but when Kurt leaves her for another woman, having the tools to cut up their marriage bed is small consolation. She's old enough to know that high school reunions are often a big disappointment, but when her best friend makes her buy a ticket and an old flame gets in touch to see whether she'll be going, she fantasizes that returning to her past might help her find her future until her driving phobia resurfaces and threatens to hold her back from the adventure of a lifetime. Time Flies is an epic road trip filled with fun, heartbreak, and friendship, and explores what it takes to conquer your worst fears...so you can start living your future.

A patron review from the Adult Summer Game: "Good story with some laugh-out-loud parts."

This is a light and enjoyable read. I loved that the main character, Melanie, is a metal sculptor. The descriptions of her sculptures and her ideas of what to do with the various things she comes across in her life -- these are my favourite parts of the novel. Best friend themes are also present in Claire Cook's books, and she portrays them well. A very pleasant read.

High school reunions are like a test for personal success and I’ll slide right off the bell curve. I’m not famous, I didn’t turn into a knockout, my husband left me.

Whenever I reached for our shared popcorn, Finn reached in, too, and our hands brushed. When he put his arm around me, all I could think of was that if he got butter on my sister’s sweater, she’d know I’d borrowed it while she was away at college, and she’d kill me.
