You'd be angry, too . . . if you grew up poorer than poor in Harlem in the 1960s and '70s, a place of unrelenting violence, racism, crime, rape, scamming, drinking, and drugging . . . with a dad permanently checked out in Bellevue and a mom at the end of her rope raising you, your twin sister, and your two brothers, moving every time the money runs out, and doing what it takes to survive.

I'm surprised to see this book was rated only one star. I wonder why. I thought it was pretty good. Glad to see some of the story was embellished, because what she said she, her sibs and their friends did at very young ages was a bit hard to believe. But, I guess things can happen, all in how one is raised, I guess. I love how she got back at her rotten, abusive husband. That was classic!
