In the title piece, Apache Basin, Dan Selkirk has been sent by his employer to examine a herd of cattle and if all looks good, place a binder fee of $1,000 on the herd. Unfortunately, Selkirk has a run-in with Jude Wade and when Wade brings in the deputy marshal and accuses Selkirk of robbery with the binder money on Selkirk's person as his proof, Selkirk suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. In The Lynchers, Deputy U.S. Marshal Ben Coe is assigned to act as a decoy for robber, kidnapper and murderer Turk Duret so the convict can be transported to a territorial prison for hanging without drawing attention from the angry locals. The ruse works so well that Coe is trailed not only by the lynch mob, but also a gang wanting the money Duret stole from them.
