First of all the location, scenery, filming, acting were all very good. The script was not good. It was very hard to relate to these people. I sure felt sad for their kids. What came to mind was Thoreau's line of "people living lives of quiet desperation". The ending as well as the alternate ending was very, very disappointing. I would have preferred an ending that showed courage and hope from the lead character. This movie is best suited for people wanting to pursue a career in the film industry.

Angel Crest is not a feel-good movie or a first-date movie. It's a profoundly sad and tragic movie.
You will be disappointed if you are looking for a whodunnit or a crime drama. This isn't what this movie is about. It's about how things can go so terribly wrong and alter so many lives when one has a momentary lapse of judgment or simply through bad luck combined with a lack of parenting skills.
The acting by Thomas Dekker and Lynn Collins is top notch. They are complemented by familiar faces such as Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite) Elizabeth McGovern (Cora, Dowton Abbey) and Jeremy Piven (Mr. Selfridge, Selfridge) as very capable supporting actors.
The script could have benefited from a creative rewrite which is why I only gave this movie 3 1/2 stars. Several details are skipped over or left to the imagination. The ending, in particular cries out for something more than the screenwriter has offered the viewer. The conclusion was somewhat unsatisfying in my opinion. One is left to begging for answers only to be left asking: "Is that all there is?"

Extremely moving film! Sad, yet let's face it, life isn't always filled with group hugs and pixie dust. If nothing else, it will make you appreciate an uncomplicated existence and the people we cherish.

Well-made and acted film. Not sure if I agree with the philosophy that lies behind its ending (listen to the director's comments on deleted scenes to see what what that philosophy is). Warning: hard to watch if you have small children in your family.

A quiet little gem of a movie. Very realistic...a little painful to watch...but well worth it. View it sometime when you can direct your full attention to it.

What a sad movie! From beginning to end... a complete downer. Be warned!

A heart wretching but entertaining film. However, I'm not sure I liked the ending. I think it could have been resolved another way.
