The Black Stallion was so good! I love the part where the Cyclone and Sun Raider and The Black Stallion race! You should read this book!
The Black Stallion is a book full of gripping drama, improbable friendships between animals and people, and dreams come true. When Alec is shipwrecked on a desert island, his only other companion from the sinking is an Arabian horse. Join Alec and the Black as they escape the island, return to New York, and become the unlikely winners of the race of a lifetime.

Add a CommentThe Black Stallion (known as the Black) is the title character from author Walter Farley's bestselling series about a magnificent horse and his young owner, Alec Ramsay.
This series chronicles the story of an Arab sheikh's prized stallion after he unexpectedly comes into Alec's possession..... (This book contains illustrations by Keith Ward, as well)

This is definitely one of my favorite books.
This is an amazing book-no wonder it's a classic!
This was a great book. This is a great book for you if you like horses and adventure books.
I totally agree with wendybird! King of the Wind is the best, but the Black Stallion is also quite wonderful.
This book inspired me alot.
written by a teen author - age 15
Glad to see the cover art here is the one I remember from my childhood! I read every book with a horse even mentioned in the text as a kid, and this one is my 2nd fav. ("King of the Wind" is my fav.). And - while the description here is accurate, people who ride & love horses will adore that Alec stables the horse in his suburban NYC neighbourhood & actually races him at Belmont Park...a fantasy come true for the horse crazy child!
