Coarse Language: Strong language throughout. However, it is not as bad as most adult books out there.

Add a CommentHad to give this less than 4 stars as a good effort petered out with a number of loose ends not being tied off. May try Baldacci again but this wasn't stellar.
Will Robie does it for a living. For the US Government, and its allies on occasion. He does it well. He has never had a screw-up until assigned the assassination of a woman who works for the American government. What really makes him balk are her two young children included in the hit. Is there a sinister plot back there somewhere? He becomes the next target and, in his effort to escape, he encounters Julie, a strong-willed and very intelligent 14 year-old, who is fleeing a similar nightmare. Two more interesting women, Annie Lambert and FBI Agent Nicole Vance, figure prominently in this thriller. A few too many unnecessary twists for it to be 5 stars but it's a page turner. Baldacci writes with an urgent style that readers soon pick up on.
I enjoyed this book and will be reading the other three books in this series. I hope they are as good.
We are supposed to meet Will Robe for the first time in this book but it's my fourth book, having read the later ones first. I'd have to say that like a good bottle of wine, Robie improves with age; or maybe I've just read one too many of his books in too short a time. Be that as it may, I felt that BAldacci belabored the point and it was a relief when the book was over. Julie was the only refreshing character in the book. Good book to read on a rainy day when there's nothing better to do.
This book was great!
Thriller about a hit man who knows something about his mission does not seem right and refuses to do the killings and a sniper does the job for him. During this process he meets up with a teenage girl who has had her parents killed and may be involved with all the reasons they want to be killed by other assassins from his past.. An FBI agent gets them the protection they need and wind up being infiltrated themselves. I think divulging of the truth and little hints of the reasons for the killings and identity of the killer took too long; it was a bit tedious. The ending was implausible with characters in impossible situations. So -so
With a name like Robie, the main character, a trained assassin, seems more likable. I enjoyed this thriller, my first Baldacci book, and hope to read other novels by him. He writes simplistically which could be a turn off. The story development and characters reminded me of Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels.
It was good, Went on a bit long, but a quick read once you got started.
Very intense and fun. Highly recommend for a popcorn read! Loved every second and the ending was mind blowing
Mind=Blown!
Slow going until the third chapter then it was fast-paced and suspenseful. The plot became implausable by the end - but it was nevertheless an enjoyable read.
