Power came to her call, and she said, "I WILL MAKE MYSELF SAFE."
Pivotal moment for Anna, the Omega wolf lead character--and a line that resonated deeply with me!
Charles didn’t bother trying to talk. He had nothing to say anyway. His grandfather had often told him that he tried too hard to move trees when a wiser man would walk around them. His grandfather had been a medicine man and liked to speak in metaphors.
Comment
Add a CommentI read it when it first came out--then just re-read it. ( Keep in mind I have nearly 500 books on my to be read shelves.) I love the way Briggs treats her characters. Always less about werewolves than it is about people and relationships. Recovering from abuse is the central underlying theme of this book--Anna, Charles, and others need healing.
This whole series is fantastic Urban Fantasy! Briggs works in werewolves, vampires, the Fae, and other assorted Others in this series, and the Alpha & Omega premise is refreshing.
Authentic, engaging characters, fabulous plotting, deft touches of humor, and breathtaking suspense and adventure--Briggs is at her best in this series, so start at the beginning with the intro short story Alpha and Omega in the anthology On the Prowl. Once you meet Anna and Charles, you'll want to sink your teeth (wolf or human) into their subsequent romance and adventures:Cry Wolf, Hunting Ground, Fair Game, and finally, Dead Heat :-) Hope Briggs never runs out of inspiration for this series!!
Decent effort for a werewolf book. Not much sex, but otherwise lots of action.
Second book in the series, and a great book. A lot of action and the characters are amazing.
