I enjoyed this movie on Algerian independence from France. Everything was done well. If you enjoy historical\political movies, then you will enjoy this one.

Really long and not interesting.

A well-made political thriller, though I feel like I've seen much of it before.

Fair – The film about Algeria’s rise to independence from the French lacked heart to be truly enjoyable. The actors seemed to “go through the motions” delivering their lines without eliciting any empathy from this viewer. Though the story spanned three decades, the film seemed limited to the three brothers. I knew there was this National Liberation Front that they belonged to but no time does the viewer ever get the appreciation of the scope of this independence group – it seemed like the group consisted solely of three brothers against the French. I also noted that the director must have recently watched “The Godfather” before filming Outside the Law because two scenes in particular seemed to be taken straight from that film – unfortunately, the film itself pales in comparison. Last note - this film was nominated for a Best Foreign Picture award at the Oscars.

Informative, interesting, well done, with good background information but not fun to watch. The film's message is greater than that of just Algeria's independence.
