While it is an enjoyable film in the world of pickpockets, their crimes, morality, training, loyalty and risks, the 1972 street scenes in Seattle, Victoria BC and Salt Lake City were equally memorable. Also, audience get to play along with the quartet in various wire mob roles: steer, stall, shade, dip, duke man, cannon, kicks, poke etc.

Locations: Brasserie Pittsbourg, Olympia Hotel, Wharf Seattle; Undersea Gardens, The Empress Hotel, Victoria BC ; Mormon Tabernacle, Temple Square, Salt Lake Hotel, Intermountain Championship arena, Salt Lake City.

Very good. A highly enjoyable film. Contemporary story, set in 1972 and filmed in 1972 in the cities of Seattle, Vancouver BC, and Salt Lake City. A 4-person highly skilled & professional pickpocket team , well, what they do is pick the pockets of as many unsuspecting people as they can. There's no morality issues involved. They want money, they enjoy what money brings, and so they pick pockets to get it. One of the reasons they need the loot: They only fly first class. Working as an organized team, one person selects the 'mark', the next person does the distracting, the third does the picking of the pocket, and immediately delivers the wallet to the fourth for an on-the-spot appraising. Only the currency is retained; the wallet and the rest of its contents are thrown in the nearest trash can, done this way to minimize the chance of being caught holding evidence. The main character Harry (the most skilled of the bunch) informs his fellow team members: "The one rule you must remember to belong to my team -- 'Harry never holds'." The whole scheme takes about 15 seconds, with the victim only discovering later their wallet has been snatched. This wouldn't work as well in 2018 b/c we don't carry as much currency on our persons now. In 1972 credit card use wasn't nearly as common, and people carried a good deal of cash in their wallets. 90% of the film takes place outdoors, on the street, at well known locations; beyond the intrigue of the pickpocketing adventures, the viewer gets a chance to see the western city street scene in 1972. Most of the cars are American made, and have that rectangular look common to the era. The foreign cars are mostly VW Beetles. The modern viewer may find this film to move a little more slowly than they are accustomed to. This isn't a problem with the film. It just that movies are more fast paced today. My suggestion: Set your watch to 1972, start the DVD, and enjoy the experience.
