Absolutely amazing. I was literally up all night reading it! Of course, you shouldn't start reading a book at midnight anyways... Parts of it were a little disappointing, but not in a bad way. Most parts had something I could learn from and were truly inspirational. The characters were well developed and seemed human. They had their faults and had to deal with them accordingly. Although Erik seems rather superhuman...except for when it comes to plumbing..ha!

A compelling read about a young gay man faced with many challenges - violence at the hands of his classmates; a best friend being seduced to join a subversive group; a secret relationship; the indifference of his family; and his own identity as an artist. What is unique (and refreshing) about this title is that while gay history and identity is discussed within context of the story, the character does not struggle with his sexual orientation. He just accepts himself, and I think that's a good message for anyone.
