"For decades, Utah's polygamous families have sought to remain out of sight and out of mind. Men in particular risk prosecution and economic blacklisting when their multiple marriages become known. But now, Joe, Alina, Vickie and Valerie Darger will open up their lives in this personal book-length account of their lives. An attractive, suburban family that look like your average American, they live in the suburbs of Salt Lake City with twenty of their children. In Love Times Three, we'll learn of their childhoods in polygamous families, their decisions to enter into this lifestyle themselves, as well as how Joe courted both Alina and Vicki at the same time and even married them on the same day. Several years later, Valerie, Vicki's twin sister, joined the family. They will explain how their relationships developed, the sister wife relationship, a chapter from Joe on what it means to love three women at one time, their weekly schedule (which wives work, who watches the children, who buys food for a household of over twenty!), and ultimately why they think laws that criminalize polygamy should change"--Provided by publisher.

Boring. Didn't enjoy it as much as the book by the Browns (Sister Wives).

Interesting subject matter appropriate to the modern redefinitions of adult contracts of matrimony. Given the Biblical characters who celebrated human diversity by having numerous wives it's difficult to make a case that monogamy is the only spiritually acceptable approach. And in modern times multiple divorces in such high percentages of the population amount to women having multiple husbands and men having multiple wives separated from one another by the thickness of a sheet of paper issued from a courtroom. The Mormon preference for polygamy will almost certainly be revisited time and again

This isn't as good as Becoming Sister Wives. The Browns are way more zany which makes them more interesting, to me at least.

Very interesting controversy. Though the adults involved seem very responsible people and loving parents, it still leaves me uncomfortable with the whole thing. When Alina testfied before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and was as asked if she had the freedom to have three husbands, she said "yes she has that freedom but it is against her values". Why, in her mind, don't these "values" apply to her husband Joe? I would guess the hierachy of the male in religious doctorine is the culprit!

Bizarre, even for this "lifestyle". The timing of "marriages" and "marrying" sisters just seems a bit off. I find it hard to believe the State still finds these sorts of relationships illegal, because women can now find work almost equal in pay to that of a man, but the secrecy of these sects does allow for bad secrets to exist within. Otherwise, it's sort of a self-punishing arrangement, is it not?

Eye-opening in that not all Fundamentalist Mormons are FLDS. A valuable read for anyone seeking information on alternatives to monogamy, even if not personally interested in religion-based polygamy (polygyny in most cases).

An interesting perspective on the polygamous lifestyle but I certainly wasn't converted! At times it was a little pious and dull but overall worth a read if this is topic that interests you.

Thought provoking! Recommended for fans of Big Love and Sister Wives. HBO actually used a Mormon magazine cover story on the Dargers as inspiration for Big Love.
