Former U.S. Marine photojournalist Gabriel St. James doesn't see the world as others do. His work reflects the heart of a dispirited, disillusioned loner. When he arrives in Shelter Bay to help a fellow Marine, the last thing he expects is for the cynical veneer to crack. Then again, he never expected to meet a woman like Charity. A veterinarian with a past that would have defeated a less resilient woman, Charity possesses a heart as generous as her name. With an undeniable attraction, Charity and Gabe agree to a simple affair with no expectations.

A very enjoyable story. Being the 2nd book in the Shelter Bay series, I am looking forward to the 3rd "On Lavender Lane",(coming Jan 2012)

I hadn't read anything by JoAnn Ross before so I was a little hesitant to try a new author, but I'm really glad I did. I really enjoyed the story and now I want to move to the Oregon coast (although the thought of constant rain is a little dreary) where the story is set and live in a little village like the one in the story.
