Loosely based on her actual first-hand account, depicts the final ten days of Nazi Germany as seen through the eyes of Hitler's then-secretary Gertraud (Traudl) Junge. Joining Hitler and his inner circle at their bunker in Berlin, she witnesses the collapse of Hitler's plans for the Third Reich. As the Russian army takes the city, the dissipation, horrific beliefs, and merciless logic of Hitler's philosophy and followers becomes ever more apparent and visceral.

At a certain point, I said, "Okay, that's it. It's over now." --Which was only about 1/3 of the way through the movie. And so...one moral of the story, to me, is that the end of a war can be a very slow grind (most never end, now that I think of it). Another "moral of the story" is that death is not always certain. Maybe 30(?) Nazi suicides were depicted, but then in the end credits, it shows that maybe only 10% of captured Nazis were actually executed (the rest came to work for NASA?). The suicides seem so absurd and...cowardly. But one must consider that the suicidal Nazis probably thought we were just like them. One of the first scenes is Hitler saying that compassion is weakness. Interesting film.

An excellent account of the final days of the Third Reich by someone who was in the bunker when it all went down!

Pretty Cool Movie, but pretty sad that all of Hitler's Relatives, Family, and The German Soldiers Suicide and Killed when the Allied forces were coming. This is great but I don't know what to say but, Absolutely Scary and Suicides. I might watch this again some time

🔵 The mesmerizing actor Bruno Ganz, who plays Hitler in this movie, died this year (2019). You can't take your eyes off him when he's on screen. To see him playing a more sympathetic character, find "Wings of Desire."

Historically accurate and entertaining. Unlike Dunkirk, the real events are dramatized, but not fabricated entirely on their own.

A realistic and excellent film that is based on facts from two books. One of them written by Hitler's personal secretary Traudl Junge. The acting is excellent especially Bruno Ganz who is outstanding as Hitler.
This is a German film with subtitles for English.
The fact that it is in German adds to the realism of the film.

I think all the people in the Hitler regime (the Third Reich) were guilty of the worst crimes against humanity. Including Albert Speer (Hitler's architect) and Traudi Junge (Hitler's secretary)
An important historical film.

Really a brilliant flick about a real unpleasant time(to say the least) in Human history. Bruno Ganz is so good, all cast is just so brainwashed to H.s philosophy, just absorbing. But, the copy in the system is beat to sh.. and quit half way thru.. Lots of scratches, managed to get thru by going to menu and working it.. Glad I have seen it before...Wait for system to get new copy, if available.

Impressive acting ensemble, and all-in-all loyal to the eyewitness accounts of the final days of the Reich. One serious lapse was to make Speer look like some lone honorable hero, a tale he manufactured himself post facto and succeeded in fooling many (though not John Kenneth Galbraith, his first interrogator). In truth, he was as guilty as his fellow Nuremberg defendants who were hung. That aside, the movie is unrelenting in showing the barbarities of war, including the anguished screams of the wounded, which are usually papered over in such films. Unfortunately, we Americans can't be too smug in condemning the slavish obedience of the Germans, who mindlessly followed to the end the Leader who promised to make Germany great again.
