Just Another Hero is a quite interesting slice-of-life/mystery story that does not require you to read the first two books, which is good.
It’s a fairly tame novel at first, then things ramp up with a terrible stepfather, a medication addiction, and a thief. And near the end, there is someone holding a classroom hostage with an AK-47 (That’s not spoilers because it says so in the description). I like how the narrative jumps between two characters, both with their own issues, but with a lot of relevance to the story, in a way so it rarely feels jarring.
With a 4.5 out of 5, I would definitely recommend it to someone who wants something interesting. You don’t even have to read the predecessors.
