Disc one: After a daring diamond heist, all fingers point to crime boss Jimmy Vincent, released from prison on the very day of the robbery. When teenagers find the two-week-old corpse of Dominic Sylvester, everyone in the Willesden constabulary dismisses it as the lonely death of a reclusive old man - everyone, that is, except Davies. Bunny Hopper is half of the almost-famous comedy team Bunny & Jules, dies onstage in a bingo hall, the apparent victim of poison.
Disc two: Someone dispatched limo owner Tony Hill by slashing him with a jagged champagne bottle, a tragic end for the former ex-pat recently back from Uruguay to rebuild his life. A dead man found behind the wheel of his car on a soccer pitch leads Davies to the Lodge of Divine Serenity, an exclusive all-male organization with a secret membership list.

I like the whole series. It is important to watch them in the proper order so you don't miss the subtle meaning in the script. The script is strong. It is not to sexual. It has too many murders for a young audience. The main character, DC Davies is very dedicated, tenacious, and persistent. He has a softer approach to people compared to the officers that works better. He successfully finds out secrets that solve the cases the other officers can't do. The employer is very slow to tell Davies he has done a good job. The co-workers treat him with disrespect and tease him a lot. Davies is very patient with everyone. Davies always tries to do the right thing and be honest at all times. He has a conscious. Davies gets stuck with the less glamorous jobs. By Series the co-workers are more respectful to DC Davies. He is also living with his ex-wife again. They are no longer separated.

Enjoyed the somewhat benign, lovable character & series. Peter Davidson is so entertaining & was hard for me to find him all grown up instead of Tristan from James Herriott series. Light, creative situations.

Another great production in the Dangerous Davies/Last Detective series. Highly recommend!!!

Unlike some people, I did like all seasons of this show. I can't believe what a 'chameleon' Peter Davison is. He's so loveable and cute in this show and so dispicable and gross in "At Home with The Braithwaites". Only complaint I have is, I wish there were subtitles on every season's dvds. The British accents, not to mention, Scottish, Irish and if there were Welsh accents, are SO bloody hard to understand to this American ear. Highly recommend anyone to watch ALL four seasons of this show. Really good, all episodes, the plots, the crimes, the finding out who done it, excellent.

I like peter davison but I was not overly impressed with this series. and sean hughes is a bit tiresome as the supposed comic relief.

The Last Detective is really fun! Good plots, dialog and characterizations make for very entertaining video series. Includes some humor to take the edge off the murder mysteries.

I think the Peter Davidson involved is not a Boston poetry fellah but the guy who used to be Doctor Who.
They might be hard to get these days, but the Dangerous Davies books are quite good. I believe one was made into a movie.
