EVEN if you were a serious fan of the X-files, dont bother. Way too outlandish, and ridiculous.

I missed watching the show when it was on... I went back and started at the beginning - I thought that they did a pretty seamless job of transferring the feel of the show to the big screen... I was a little surprised at how much of the mythology they gave away through the course of the film... they are usually so dodgy and conservative with giving away anything concrete on the show. I'm interested how this will affect the remaining seasons of the show - definitely a must see if you are working your way through the whole series but not necessarily as a stand alone film.

About an hour's worth of story stretched into 2 hours of film. Even the Scully-Muldur chemistry is lacking. Unless you are a serious fan, don't bother.

While it is possible to watch the film without having seen the TV series at all, it's far more enjoyable to watch it after having watched the first 5 seasons of the X-Files.

Scully: I can't. I won't. Mulder, I'll be a doctor, but my work is here with you now. That virus that I was exposed to, whatever it is, it has a cure. You held it in your hand. How many other lives can we save? Look... (takes his hand) If I quit now, they win.
