I am not a fan of the sub-genre "cozy" but this book listed on a "if you liked this you might like ..." recommendateions so I gave it a try.

A rather prissy thirty-something librarian is persuaded to join the library marathon team on the canoe leg, and meanwhile gets involved with a murder discovered behind a friend’s garage.

The mystery is carefully crafted, the characters clearly drawn and the coincidences overwhelmingly unlikely. Such coincidences are part (I think) of the Cozy genre so I sternly suspended my disbelief and pretty much enjoyed the story. Learned a lot about rowing a canoe, too.
