Written, directed by, and starring Sylvester Stallone, this film is a sequel to the original Rocky. The story continues from where it left off of, where Rocky Balboa has now achieved more fame and recognition than ever before. His life has changed, and he’s a married man who’s about to become a father. However, when the world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed, wants a rematch, Rocky has to convince his wife to return to the ring in spite of his injuries. While the film may seem a bit slow at times, its emotional scenes are contrasted by the action sequences. However, despite the decent acting performances, the movie’s plot is somewhat similar to the first part, and Rocky 2 doesn’t offer much to make it a unique film in the series. This is why I give it a rating of 3.5 stars.

The series that won't die. So the first one came out in 1976 (and won best picture!) and there was a new entry in 2015, which focused on Apollo Creed's son and was called. . ."Creed." This first sequel picks up with the end of "Rocky," in case you forgot. Rocky enjoys some of his new-found fame and money, marries Adrian, and retires from boxing, but you know that can't last. He gets back in the ring with Creed (Carl Weathers), but not before an inspirational training sequence set to Bill Conti's famous music. Stallone's more of a lovable lunkhead than he would be in his 80s action movies. He also wrote, directed, and cast his brother Frank in a small part. Fans of the series won't be disappointed. Others might find it a little cliched and sluggish. Followed by "Rocky III," where he fights Mr. T.

A little on the repetitive side from the first, but a very good sequel. 4 stars
