I disliked this book. I thought the plot was a clunky mess that jumped all over the place. I found the characters to be flat and undeveloped. I disliked the protagonist, Emily Kenyon immensely; she read as a self-involved, snarky, entitled, dimwitted person who, while having little to offer, also seems sure that she is better and more important than everyone else (why is it that author's try to make heroes of narcissists?). Finally, the emotional reactions of the characters, particularly Emily, were all just a little off from how people would actually respond, which I found very grating. I will not read any more book in this series or by this author.

I really was torn between rating this a 3 and a 4 -- probably closer to a 4, but system wouldn't let me change my rating! It was an interesting story; I might have been the tiniest bit disappointed with some aspects of the ending, but the character development was good, the various subplots added some good suspense. Overall, I will continue to read works by this author.
