Add a CommentDecent series about a cold case squad in Britain.
I enjoyed it enough to request the second series.
It is a good mystery series. It's quite different from the usual detective shows. This one has all the necessary team experts on board, such as in the forensic lab expert and a profiler. Quite Good stories and good acting. Somewhat dark series. I do agree that, at times, all that conflict among the certain team members seems contrived and over-the-top. I feared someone would have a heart-attack from all that stress. Waking the Dead is worth watching.
A new cold case unit is formed by the London police consisting of three detectives, a psychologist and a forensics expert. The unit's task is to investigate old unsolved murders using modern investigative and forensic techniques. In season one of Waking the Dead the team completes five investigations. The storylines are interesting and complicated and keep one guessing about the suspects as well as the ultimate outcome of each investigation.
This would probably be best described as an "Americanised" Brit police procedural. The basis for this claim is that almost all of the excitement is the result of false or phoney conflicts put into scripts only to gin up the show.
2.5 stars for completely average. I only watched two two part episodes and both were very slow and ponderous with little or no surprises in situations, characters, interactions etc. On the other hand the show has at least 6 seasons and the ratings seem to get better. There are a lot of two part episodes and that format works against them, there just is not enough material for two hours.
Great BBC Mystery. I loved the characters which played. I recommend it to anyone who loves different type of mysteries.
