I had to leave a comment since the only other comment is rather useless. This movie is not entertaining - rather disturbing, but it is thought provoking. The movie is sadly based on a true story. A young Army recruit falls in love with a transgendered singer. I don't want to reveal the plot but the film does a good job of representing the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy in regards to gay inviduals. I found the fact that there are soldiers willing to protect and defend their country but the military cannot accept them as they are. There were several soldiers in the film who had scary psychological/mental problems and they were acceptable to our military. The film raises some interesting issues which are worthy of discussion/debate. The end is very violent, so not appropriate for children or squeamish viewers.
