Fortunate: I like Brad Thor books.
Unfortunate: I am reading them wildly out of order, having to catch up those between Horvath #3 and Horvath #9, plus Horvath #16 and #17.
Fortunate: Yay! I finished #4 'Blowback'.
Fortunate: I learned more than I ever thought possible about ancient poisons and Hannibal and his excursion through the Alps.
Unfortunate: Those parts were literally (both for me and Hannibal) slow going (made more so because 'Blowback' is only available in paperback from KCLS: big, thick book, little tiny letters).

When I reviewed 'Spymaster', Horvath #18, I remarked ~*~" I think 'Spymaster' is a bridge between the young Scot Horvath of the earlier novels and the Scot of today, feeling his body age and change with age, realizing his potential limitations." ~*~
Imagine my surprise when fourteen book earlier, Scot was pondering the same things!

I think the one thing I enjoy - and that scares the bubbles out of me - is how eerily prescient Brad Thor is, as well as how exceptionally well researched and knowledgeable he is. His prescience, like that of Tom Clancy and Vince Flynn, is scary... and scary good.

On to Horvath #5 . . .

Lot of action but writing was too common - dailogue was trite

Brad Thor writes really intelligent page turners and this is no exception. If you like Vince Flynn, I think you'll like Thor even better. I recommend this as a interesting, exciting, well written page turner. Rating is A minus.
