Chuckled at observation like roll sanity check on Quantum Physics or Lovecraft's Chutlu.
Ditto the gun toting rednecks to save the police against aliens though Higgs Boson particles gate.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable read. The threat is apocalyptic; the battle heroic, even epic; the humour is laced through out; the aliens are very alien, yet familiar. Brilliant storytelling by a master.
