For many college students, Spring Break means fun and sun in Florida. For Danny, a Yale junior and the everyman hero of Tom Perrotta's new novel, it means two weeks behind the wheel of the Roach Coach, his father's lunch truck, which plies the parking lots of office parks in central New Jersey. Danny can use the time to make sense of his love life, which is getting pretty complicated.Populated by a vividly drawn cast of characters and set in the highly recognizable cultural coordinates of New Jersey and New Haven in 1980, "Joe College" was a reviewers' favorite in hardcover and is sure to be a major success in paperback.

I don't know how I feel about this book. It had all the making of a great book. I really liked the beginning then I felt like it missed the mark. The story seemed to be all over the place. I was the story of a boy who was from New Jersey and went to school at Yale. The story begins and ends at Yale but the bulk of the story is in New Jersey during his spring break, while he helps his dad drive a lunch truck. There are so many story lines that are thrown together and don't really help the overall story. Not that I felt there was an overall story that had a beginning and an end.
